RSS Feed Threatening email - DON'T BE DUPEDEmails asking for personal information, including:
ARE PHONY, BOGUS, FAKE...DELETE THEM IMMEDIATELY...DO NOT RESPOND! These emails are referred to as "phishing" emails. The originator of a phishing email is attempting to mislead (deceive, fool, dupe, hoodwink) unsuspecting individuals into providing information that will be used to launch malicious, threatening, and annoying (best case) emails under an assumed identity. No matter how official these requests appear, no legitimate source will ask for this information in an email. If they do, refer them to the iTech Help Desk at 601-266-HELP (4357). By responding to one of these "phishing" emails, YOU may be responsible for perpetuating this offense. If you receive an E-mail such as this, DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY. No one from the university will ask for personal information via email, period. It is a violation of Federal and State Information Security laws. If you doubt the origins of any email, please contact the iTech Help Desk at 601-266-HELP (4357) for more information. iTech appreciates and thanks you for your attention with this matter as we strive to protect your and the University's information. |
